PolandPassport.com Founder Neil Kaplan Selected as Head of Delegation for Poland at 2022 Maccabiah Games
Warsaw – May 9, 2022 - PolandPassport.com, the leading worldwide Polish citizenship and European Union (EU) passport advocacy agency for those with Polish descent, announces that its founder, Neil Kaplan, was selected as Head of Delegation for the Polish Maccabiah Team.
The Games will open on July 14, 2022 in Jerusalem and take place through July 26. Held every four years, the Worldwide Maccabiah Games were originally scheduled for 2021, but were postponed due to the pandemic. Delegations worldwide send their best Jewish sportsmen and women to the competition.
Kaplan will be competing in the cycling time trial and road race competitions again after last competing in the 2017 Worldwide Games. His son, Harry, again will captain the Polish fencing team. Harry Kaplan won three medals in the European Games held in Budapest in 2019 and joined his sister, Julie (bronze, 2017), as the only fencing medalists in Polish Maccabiah history. Harry will compete in the Sabre and Foil competitions in both individual and team events. Harry will attend Stanford University as a freshman this coming September.
Speaking about his selection, Neil Kaplan said, “I am honored to represent Poland as Head of Delegation with my son, Harry, on such a momentous occasion. Having been involved with Team Poland since 2017, I am proud to be part of the best of Jewish Polish athletes at the Games. We are looking forward to competing this summer and are grateful to the Maccabiah organization, who did such a tremendous job in working through two challenging years. We are confident that the 2022 Games will be a spectacular event that will be remembered for a lifetime.”
In 2017, Team Poland garnered 2 Gold and 1 Bronze medals in what was a record setting performance for the Polish squad at the Worldwide Games in Israel.
Harry Kaplan said, “Carrying the flag in Budapest in 2019 on behalf of the Polish Jewish community was such a great honor for me and even more exciting to share this great event with my father. I was honored to reach the podium after my sister Julie did the same in 2017. I will give my all to continue our family legacy in Polish fencing.”
